Partner in the Washington, D.C. office and a member of the International Corporate Department, Mr. Brown joined the Firm in 1969. In his practice Mr. Brown has been involved in various regulatory matters relating to international commerce and trade including the application of U.S. laws and regulations imposing sanctions on trade with or investment in targeted countries, U.S. export and import controls and payments to foreign officials.

Mr. Brown has also represented investors (corporate and individual - both international and domestic) in the acquisition of direct or indirect investments in the U.S. He has assisted clients in presenting positions to Congressional committees and U.S. Government agencies. He also has worked on the interpretation and analysis of legislative and regulatory developments. Before joining the Washington office, Mr. Brown practiced law in New York where he also served as an administrative assistant to the late Marietta Tree in her capacity as a delegate to the 1967 New York State Constitutional Convention. He then moved to Washington where he was special assistant to Robert C. Wood, under secretary and then secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
